Sunday we went down to Fredericksburg. We looked at the civil war battle site.
These are the actual remains of the trenches that were dug by the Confederate army.

Map of the battle
This statute is dedicated to a Confederate soldier who went out from his lines to give water to wounded Union soldiers.
Jack in front of the Inis House which received a great deal of damage during the battle.
This is the sunken road and stone wall from which the Confederates shot a the advancing Union forces. The Union soldiers didn't stand much of a chance.
We had a great lunch at an Irish place. The food was great. Then we stopped off and got some ice cream at a place that also sold fudge. Of course we had to get some fudge. If you bought a pound you got half a pound free. The fudge is very good. Yum Yum!!
