One Last Song from Jon McLaughlin

One last song. This is not from the concert I went to. But this is a song that I really love. It's just so well done. It was from a date earlier on the tour.

Tess Henley at the Hamilton

The opening act for Jon McLaughlin was Tess Henley. She was really good. Very much a one person band. She had her Mac ready to go to help her with over dubbing and background music.

I bought a couple of her CDs. I really enjoy them. I even had her sign one.

What a great concert. Got a VIP pass. With that I got to see him before the concert started and even got to hear two songs that he didn't play in the concert.

The Hamilton is a great place for a concert. It was tables and you ordered dinner (which was great). Because we got in early we had great seats. Front and center.

Playing Catch Up

A great deal to catch up on. I've been busy. I have to do my final posts on the trip to New York.

The review of the Peanuts movie which I saw on Monday.

The visit to National Geographic which was also on Monday.

Then last night was the Jon McLaughlin concert at the Hamilton.

But that's what weekends are for.

I will say this the rest of the trip was great.

The Peanuts movie was wonderful.

Jon was fantastic. I did the VIP pass and got to meet him and listen to a couple of songs too!

What a spectacular concert. As I said one of the best I've seen. I'd like to thank Denis for inviting me along for this adventure.

I hope the next group of posts gives a little sense of what the concert was like.

I'll have a few more posts that wrap up the trip to Detroit in the next day or so.

Madonna — Frozen

Instead of Ghosttown Madonna performed Frozen the first time in concert since 2009. It was incredible.

Finally the concert came. Wow it was great.

The next bunch of posts will be pictures and video from the concert. Some of the pictures Denis took and some of the video will be from other people at the Detroit show.

So we start off with what Denis and I called the bouncing men.

The pictures tell the story about this. It was incredible how far down these guys were able to go. They came very close to touching the hands of people in the audience.

Hey Jude from the Paul McCartney Concert

Paul McCartney singing Hey Jude at Nationals Park. For me this was the highlight of the concert. It got everyone up and it got everyone singing. And all 45,000 plus got to join in on the chorus. Gave me goose bumps. It was soooooo Fantastic!

WOW!!

WOW!!!

Did I mention that it was WOW!!! That would be an under statement to describe the concert.

We went down early to eat. We stopped off at a couple of places. One seats wouldn't be available until around 6 which we thought was too late. Another the menu didn't appeal all that much to us and there was only seating outside (it looked like it might rain). Finally we ended up at Potbelly's which turned out to be a great choice. It wasn't very crowded when we got there so we got to sit down and enjoy our meal.

It also brought us in to the side of the park. We missed the huge crowd that was getting off at the Metro station. Here's a view looking down half street toward the Metro stop a few minutes after we got in.

We were lucky to hear the sound check. We were able to hear at the sound check: Penny Lane, Silly Love Songs and No More Lonely nights. None of these songs did he end up playing at the concert.  

So we got to our seats. I have to say the seats were spectacular.

Then it was waiting to see the stadium to fill in and get ready for Sir Paul

And it began to fill in rather quickly.

 

And then out he came and we were off!!!

It was an amazing concert to say the least. One of the neat things I noticed were three teenage guys who couldn't have been more than 15 or 16 with one of their dad's. They were up for the entire concert and new most if not all of the words to the songs. That was just so cool.

Also a little more thought into the concert is that Sir Paul sung songs some of which were at least 50 years old and are cultural touch stones. Hey Jude (which went on for almost seven minutes with audience participation). Let It Be. Live and Let Die which because of how it's performed has sort of become the movie theme.

It was just a fantastic wonderful night.

And the seats were great!!!!!
