Potted Potter an Absolute Delight

What an incredibly funny and enjoyable spoof of the Harry Potter series of books. It’s at Sidney Harman Hall through the middle of the month. Jeff Turner and Daniel Clarkson play all the characters.

All the books are done in 70 minutes. It is very funny. There is audience participation. There’s a Quidditch game that the audience participates in. The audience is divided into two team: Gryffindor and Slytherin. A beach ball is used for the quaffle. There is a seeker for each team that is chosen from the audience. Jeff dresses up as the golden snitch. He looks absolutely hysterical.

Daniel encourages the two seekers to get the snitch. Well the snitch was indeed gotten. In fact the snitch was tackled to the ground. Everyone in the audience was howling with laughter and the guys on stage were too. In fact they continued to reference what happened throughout the rest of the show.

Here’s a little from an interview from the post talking about how the show evolved from a performance outside of a bookstore to something more:

We thought that would be it. It was just a one-off job. But people loved it. We had about 1,000 people in that bookstore laughing and screaming at what we were doing, so it blew our minds. We thought maybe we should do something with it, so we expanded it into a 60-minute show, took it to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, in 2006, and it’s just got ever so slightly bigger each year. We toured the U.K. for three years in little venues, and then we got into the West End in London, and then at the beginning of last year we brought it to North America, and it just keeps on going.

The show is an just a delight see it before Jeff and Dan grab a port key and get out of town.

Here's a little bit of the show from when they performed at West End Live 2011.
