Consequences

I was going to mention the 4th anniversary of what can now only be called the infamous aircraft carrier landing of President Bush and “Mission Accomplished.” But it mad me too sad. Then this weekend 8 more soldiers were lost.

Then there were the storms in Kansas. Seems as if Iraq is having an impact there as well. The Post has a story about it.

As the governor stated:

“I don’t think there is any question if you are missing trucks, Humvees and helicopters that the response is going to be slower,” Sebelius said. “The real victims here will be the residents of Greensburg, because the recovery will be at a slower pace.”

Just another of the unintended consequences of this war. There have been continual promises by the Pentagon that money will be put into the budget to replace this equipment. So far this has all been talk. At some point in time the equipment will need to be replaced. The longer it is put off the more expensive it will be. But then again this is a problem, just like the war itself, that Bush will leave for someone else to clean up.
