Sounds like the title of a song. But summer is beginning to fade. The Tuesday after Labor Day is the traditional end of summer. All the schools are back in session now around DC. All of the colleges are back as well. This is usually when the roads become clogged again and Metro is jammed with passengers. On Tuesday, at least for me, it was not all that bad. Then again I left a little early just in case there was a crowd.
It reminds me of our perception of time. In the summer months (June, July and August) 8pm is looked on as still being early in the evening. Yet 8pm in the winter (December, January and February) is looked on as being sort of late. I suppose that is because the sun sets around 5pm then.
So summer begins to fade. There will still be warm days ahead (we are having some right now) but there is a change in the air (and the Halloween decorations are already up) and fall is most definitely on the way.
