2Political Episode 8

2PP008 – 5 June 2009
2Political Podcast Episode 8: As always, we begin with Jason’s special days, but today we have a VERY special day! From there, it’s a discussion of the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor. What do we think about the Supreme Court make-up? Arthur watched Faux News, and that relates to the president’s trip to the Mideast. Arthur corrects Faux News, which is easy to do. Arthur also has a special adventure to share, one that relates to our previous episode.

After the discussion, we have comments on our previous episode. That raises topics we discuss. Join the discussion!

2Political Episode 007

2PP007 – 19 May 2009
2Political Podcast Episode 7: We begin with my special days, but today’s episode is mostly a discussion with our first guest (and we are so happy to have a guest!), Peter (aka epilonious). We look at civility on the Internet, the origins and implications of the lack of civility. It’s a wide-ranging discussion, and other political issues come up, too, including how to deal with religious arguments. We wrap up with our advice and strategies for avoiding “uncivility wars” on the Internet.

After the discussion, we have comments on our previous episode. That raises topics we discuss. Join the discussion!

2Political Episode Six

2PP006 – 5 May 2009

My special days span the globe, but Arthur adds one from space. We begin talking about the flu outbreak, especially how the media did in reporting about it. Was New Zealand’s media coverage any different? From there it’s a discussion of President Obama’s first 100 days, which then leads to a discussion of Arlen Specter changing parties and the two main parties generally. Arthur mentions a podcaster’s challenge, and why the right just doesn’t “get” new media or the Internet Age.

There are extensive comments on the last episode, so we don’t read them all. Instead, we talk about them and the topics they raise. Back in 2 weeks!

Feel free to visit our website: 2political.com where you can see all the links for this episode or leave a comment. You can also call our US-based comment line, 206-426-0527, or send an email to arthur[at)2political.com or jason{at]2political.com. 2Political episodes will continue to be available through AmeriNZ Podcast for quite awhile, but you can subscribe directly through iTunes (see the link below). 2political, Episode 5

2PP005 – 22 April 2009

Episode 5 Today’s special days are a little more sobering than usual, but that changes when we go on to our next subject: Teabagging! Once we stop giggling, we talk about what we think is behind it all. It’s not all a liberal rant. That leads on to the Texas governor suggesting secession. We talk about the right’s pandering to the far right and the right’s sudden rediscovery of the First Amendment. After that, it’s a concrete example of a bailed-out bank doing a number on its customers. Comments on a variety of topics—including a voicemail message! The written comments let us expand on those subjects and discuss others—including one on which we disagree. Back in 2 weeks!

2Political Episode Four

2PP004 – April 8, 2009

Episode 4 continues our regular schedule of podcasting every other week (the next episode will be the week of April 20). After special news, we talk about President Obama’s trip to Europe. That leads to a wide-ranging discussion of international relations before we move on to talk about the auto industry. That leads to a concrete example of why it’s so important to the world that the US fixes its economy and gets credit flowing again. Comments on a variety of topics round out this episode. Back in 2 weeks!

Another Episode of 2political

2PP003 – March 25, 2009

Episode 3 begins our regular schedule of podcasting every other week (more or less…). After special news, a special announcement: 2Political has it’s own US-based comment line—206-426-0527. Then it’s on to AIG and the implications of that whole situation. We say that reform, regulation and oversight will all be necessary. We then move on to talking about the plans to buy “toxic assets” and what that can mean. Back in a couple weeks!

2Political Second Episode

Or can they be good? We have even more comments to discuss. 2political Launches for real this time

I got a little ahead of myself with the last podcast. This is the official official launch of 2political. You can find us here.

This is the first of the stand-alone versions of what Arthur and I used to call our “Politicasts”. You’ll be able to subscribe to this podcast separately if you want, but for the time being Arthur will be posting it so subscribers to the AmeriNZ Podcast will get it automatically.

We start off by talking about Rush Limbaugh, and the disarray among Republicans. To move on from that sorry tale, I have two fun factoids and the we're back to the serious. Arthur brings up the revelations about the Bush memos that gave Bush legal cover for seizing dictatorial power, some of which he did. We had no idea until recently how bad it really was, and how bad it almost was. Should members of the Bush/Cheney regime be prosecuted?

Then, some more Congress talk. What about giving Washington, DC real representation in the US House of Representatives?

Feel free to visit our new website: 2political.com. You can also send an email to arthur[at) 2political.com or jason{at] 2political.com. 2 Political episodes will continue to be available through AmeriNZ Podcast for quite awhile, but iTunes subscription will be available soon (Update: you can now subscribe in iTunes—just click on the link below). In the meantime, if you want to subscribe directly now, you can use http://feeds2.feedburner.com/2politicalPodcast.

Hope you like the first official 2politcal podcast.

2political

That's the name of the new site for my political podcasts with Arthur. The site is exactly up and running yet but it will be shortly.

You can go here and listen to the first podcast under our new name.

The main focus of the cast is the economy. Specifically we focus on to the economic stimulus, which President Obama signed into law on Tuesday. We talk about some of the implications, and I also presents my ideas for helping ordinary homeowners which I outlined in an earlier post. That leads to a talk of banks, the financial markets and the salaries people are paid. Despite it all, we end on a positive note.

Hope you enjoy.

First Podcast of the New Year

Arthur and I have our first podcast of the new year. You can listen to it here.

We talk about the final days of Bush and what he's trying to sell as his legacy. The challenges that are facing Obama as he enters the presidency. Also what we think should happen with the rest of the bailout money and some ideas on how to get the economy going by helping out the little guy.

We also talk about our plans for the podcast in the coming year. Hope you enjoy.

Final Political Podcast for the Year

Arthur and I have our final political podcast for this year. We talk about a wide range of subjects. We start off with the mess in our old home state of Illinois. From there we segue into an extensive discussion about religion and politics, same-sex marriage, and we even talk about the divisive online rhetoric of the left and—especially—the right. Later, we talk about the bailouts and the twilight of the Bush years. Are Bush-Cheney guilty of treason? We end by talking about the optimism of the impending inauguration. Comments let us discuss a few more things, too.

Here's the link to the podcast.

Post-election Podcast

Now that Arthur and I have recovered from the election, we have a chat about where things are political. You can listen here. We start by talking about post-election issues—what’s going on, what’s likely to happen. We also talk about the future of the Republican Party. That leads to a discussion of the various ballot initiatives, especially California’s Prop 8. The reaction to the passage of Prop 8 and what happens next. Finally we talk about the elections in New Zealand.

Enjoy.

Final Podcast before the Election

This is the final podcast that Arthur and I are doing before the election. You can listen to it by following this link.

It’s Election Eve we go over the current Electoral College totals. Then, we discuss a few smaller issues, and go over comments.

Then it’s to the main purpose of today’s podcast: Our “closing statements”. We tell you what we’re thinking and feeling at the end of this long campaign.

And we urge everyone to get out and vote tomorrow and to tell everyone they know to get out and vote.

Penetrating Political Perspective Podcast

Arthur and I are at it again with another . Here's yet another podcast regarding the presidential election. We discuss a wide range of topics.

We start off talking about recent events, including Barack’s 30-minute broadcast, early voting, voting machines, vote fraud and we even have an election night tip. We talk about various ballot initiatives and the wide range of issues on the ballot across the states. W also discuss the notion that politicians are never allowed to admit mistakes, so they have to stick with bad ideas no matter what. All of which are the sorts of things we’ll be talking about once this election is finally over.

Enjoy!

Poignantly Pertinent Political Podcast

Arthur and I are at it again with another podcast about the upcoming election. You can find it here.

We have a wide ranging discussion where we touch on Art's favorite news network Fox Noise I mean News and their interesting electoral college map. We also talk how things are shaping up at the Congressional level. We also give thanks that there's only one more week to go.

Presidential Election Podcast

We're in the home stretch for the election. I know in some ways that seems impossible. How could it possible be over? Another perspective is oh why can't it be over. Well Arthur and I have another podcast about the state of the race. This was done earlier in the week. You can follow this link to listen to it.

We cover a broad range of topics. This being an election we start off with the polls and the state of the electoral college map. We comment on the perennial problem with voting and machines breaking down. Also the importance of people getting out and voting. We move on to the tone of the campaign. The “pro-American” comment and more including Sarah.

Enjoy.

New Political Podcast

My friend Arthur and I did another political podcast. We did right after the last debate. You can hear by following this link.

We talk about the state of the race. Who we think "won" the debate. The attacks going back and forth. The tone of the campaign. Then some general thoughts on the way the economy is going and the impact it is having on the race.
