Took a trip with my friend Mark to Bowie, Maryland on Saturday to visit Belair Mansion.
This was part of his research into his genealogy. He's trying to connect his family tree to the family who built the mansion. This was originally built in 1745 for Governor Samuel Ogle.
We weren't sure exactly what we would find but it was a very interesting place to visit.
I'd gone to the gym in the morning and Mark picked me up there and off we went. We stopped off for lunch at Bowie Town Center. Very nice shopping and eating area. The old concept of a shopping mall. Lots of stores but there are outside.
It was then on to the mansion. There was a an introductory film about the mansion. You then went on your own self guided tour. As we were told by one of the guides, there was going to be a mother day tea later in the afternoon so some of the rooms had been rearranged a little.
