Belair Stable

Down the street from the mansion was the stables. This is thoroughbred horse racing more or less started in this country. Governor Samuel Ogle imported two horses with the idea of creating a better racehorse. In the 20th Century, the stable became the center for American racing. This is the only stables to have bred and raced a father and son Triple Crown winners.

There was a very informative staff person. He gave a little talk on the history and then let us walk around the grounds. As you entered the stable area all of a sudden you heard the sound of horses. It gave it a more genuine feel for the stables. And like the mansion this was set right in the middle of the housing development.
